Traffic rules for cyclists you do not know

Do you know what traffic regulations cyclists must meet? In addition, what are your obligations as a driver when you come across one or several bicycles? Most cyclists know what the right safety equipment to drive safely by road is. Only one in 10 says they have informed of the regulations in this regard, and even 4% admit not knowing anything about it.

Nor are they too placed with regard to the security elements that affect the bike, such as the fact that it is mandatory to carry braking systems on both wheels (something that 26% do not know) or that it is forbidden to do without the bell. The data is from the study published by the AXA Study Center for Road Safety on road accidents and bicycle use, in collaboration with the University of Valencia and the TNS agency.

The last news we have received in recent days have encouraged us to prepare this practical with all the rules you must respect whether you use the road as a driver of a vehicle as if you do it on a bike.

You should not forget this kit if you are going to ride a bike:
1. Helmet
Cyclists are obliged to use the protective helmet on interurban roads and crossings; in urban roads it is compulsory for children under 16 (whether they are drivers or occupants of the bicycle), although the DGT recommends its use in all ages.

2. Reflective vest
In low light hours, cyclists must wear some reflective garment that allows other users to distinguish them at a distance of 150 meters on interurban roads.

3. Headphones
The use of headphones connected to receivers or sound players, as well as the use of the mobile phone is also prohibited while riding a bicycle.

Police officers will hand out safety vests every month

Not only repression, but also prevention, police have in their job. One of the preventive actions targeted at the driver is reminded of the obligation to have a reflective vest in the vehicle.

"Police have also participated in a nationwide preventive action aimed at increasing the visibility not only of drivers but also of all other road users," said domestic police spokesperson Dagmar, who will hold this event every month.

"In December, this preventive action will take place for the second time this week, probably on Thursday. The first took place on the third December during the afternoon. Together with police officers, I was on some of the busy sections of the main road trips, where we distributed reflective vests in roadside checks. Drivers have been warned that under the provisions of the Road Traffic Act, a mandatory reflective jacket or a single piece of reflective garment, which they are required to wear during an emergency stall on a road outside the village, is part of the obligatory equipment of the motor vehicle, "she told the Police Diary.

Drivers say they have responded very positively to the cops who have been delivering the reflective jackets. "All motorcyclists checked in welcomed reflective vests and other reflective materials. The fact that it is important to be properly seen on the road is that everyone is very well aware, and this action of the Police of the Czech Republic, organized in cooperation with the Czech Insurers' Office, has been welcomed and appreciated very positively, "the spokesperson said.

We were wondering what those drivers who would not have a reflective vest or other appropriate safety equipment could expect. "In the event of a violation of this legislation, police officers can impose penalties up to CZK 2000," the spokesman said.

40% of motorbikes do not conform to the Highway Code

Gendarmes and municipal police officers have again put their resources together to perform a check of the two wheels at the time of the return of the colleges.
Bicycles and mopeds were monitored in three locations: in front of the college entrance Sourdy, Martyrs Square Beaussire primarily for college and Wilson Avenue in front of the St. Ursula college.
If both wheels were fewer than usual, in this chilly morning, 45 checks were carried out, and 18 cyclists and moped riders were in default, 40% of the controls!
Among the cyclists fault controlled, five have been in December. Yet one does not turn its light on the front, while it works, another does not carry the yellow safety vest
while he was in his pocket.A fine of € 17
Following these preventive controls, parents must have the bike repaired at the municipal police. Violators of bicycle safety obligations incur a fine of 17 € per offense; before lighting and default back are two offenses!
This prevention operation aims to raise awareness of obligations outstanding on two wheels, like having a braking system in good condition and at night have lighting at the front and rear. And wear reflective vest when traveling outside urban areas, even ahead of Beugné l'Abbé by the bike path. Recall that the helmet if it is not mandatory bicycle, is a recommended safety equipment.
The goal is to first raise awareness of the need to be seen. Whether a pedestrian or cyclist, few people are aware of not being sufficiently visible to motorists. And do not do like this girl, without any safety equipments like reflective tape, holding her cell phone in hand lamp function, instead of the light before!
Young councilors and elected officials who accompany them, also mobilized.
A good way to understand the security and prevention of law enforcement missions, and to be ambassadors to their peers for more road safety.
