Outdoor reflective wear designed by Giambattista Valla

With its outdoor seam line designed by Giambattista Valla, Monocle is becoming increasingly popular. In the mountains, high altitude, the air is rare and cold stunning. In town, the weather conditions may be milder; yet the clothing needs remain similar. If, on the ski slopes, the safety vest is queen and technical performance of rigor, on the tarmac, the outfits need to be off-road -course between appointments and work oblige- worldly outputs, namely comfortable but also elegant. It is the conviction of Remo Ruffian, who slaloms himself between the laborious Milan and Lake Como, where the CEO since 2003 Monocle divides his time between water sports and skiing. With an almost obsessive zeal, it oversees, on all fronts, the famous Franco-Italian company founded in 1952 -from product development to design advertising campaigns with photographer Bruce Weber. Three years after his arrival, he decided to launch a new line, recognizable by its scarlet label: Monocle Game Rouge was born.
"I watched how people wore quilted jackets mountain in town. This gave me the idea to combine classical and practical side of the Monocle jackets with luxurious items, a certain sophistication and eclectic spirit. " For this businessman addicted to challenges, this new project is only an "exercise in style", he performs with the help of Alessandra Facchinetti, then -when the designer won the post of artistic director Valentino- with the Roman Giambattista Valli. "I was following from afar the work of Giambattista, I admired his talent, especially his couture sensibility, rare these days. He embodied exactly what I was looking for Monocle Game Rouge."
In addition to comfort and technical reflective fabrics, men want luxury
Their collaboration began in 2008 with a collection of jackets for women inspired by the delicate volumes and precious materials of high fashion, while being produced -like all of the brand-jackets with French goose down insulation to ensure a 85% and a unique lightness. Not only the association between Remo Ruffian and Giambattista Valli is successful immediately, but it marks the beginning of many collaborations between Monocle and creators of all styles, from Japanese Junta Watanabe, who imagines jackets color block, the Londoner d 'Greek Mary Katrantzou, who decorates his digital prints, through the Englishman Christopher Raeburn, who customize them with a mountain look. A taste for creative meetings confirmed in 1989: pioneer, Chantal Thomas then imagined branding a line of jackets padded ultra glamour satin and fur.
In 2009, Monocle Game Bleu born as male-against part of the Red Line, designed by Thom Browne American in spirit "sport crossed with tailoring." However, male clients are also spoiled by Giambattista Valli, who began producing parts for men this season. It only meets demand: in addition to comfort and technical fabrics, men want luxury. Coats crocodile, fur or metallic leather come and hybridize cotton water repellent models decorated with reflective tape. "The mixture of noble and performance materials is part of the DNA of Monocle today says Remo Ruffian, but also of contemporary fashion in general. The relationship between sport and luxury has become increasingly symbiotic recent years, so much so that one could almost say that sportswear is the new denim because it seeps into our everyday looks. Monocle naturally participates in the air. And every season, fun lot by seeking new and surprising ways to reinterpret the jacket.
