Safety kits you cannot forget when you get in the car

Is it mandatory to carry the insurance receipt? What fine will they give us for driving with the expired card? Do you have to wear spare glasses? Do we will fine for putting the reflective triangles wrong? We clarify it.

These days many Spaniards start their holidays and get ready for one of the longest trips by car. With the hurry or by the habit, we can circulate forgetting some papers or accessories and skipping some obligations that, many times, we do not know. In addition, that can cost us an important fine in some cases.

The first thing you have to carry is the driver's license. Depending on the age of the driver, the type of permit, the state of health that reveals in the medical examinations... change the renewal terms. Normally, its ten years, but it is worth checking when our permit expires before leaving on a trip ... because the fine for wearing it is 200 Euros.

If we are new drivers, we cannot forget to wear the badge with the 'L' correctly placed. It must put in a visible place and it must be carried during the first year of validity of the driving license. The safety vest also needs to keep in the car. Sometimes, and more if we share the car with someone, we can forget to put it: it is a slight infraction that it will cost us 80 Euros.

If we drive without current insurance, the fine is 1,500 Euros in the case of driving a car; the infraction is very serious and the fine is between 601 and 3,005 Euros depending on the vehicle. And one last consideration about insurance: it is no longer mandatory to take the payment receipt over because the Civil Guard can already check it informally, but it is recommended. In addition to the driving license, it is obligatory to have the ITV passed in case our vehicle is old to have passed it. The validity of the inspection is variable depending on the type of vehicle and the years it has. Check your latest review to find out. Circular with the ITV expired or without it is a serious infraction that can cost us 200 Euros.

The group of documents that is mandatory to carry is the registration certificate, which is attached to the ITV and driver's license. That permit proves that we can drive with our vehicle. We can be denounced simply for not taking the circulation permit over: it will cost us 60 Euros. In addition, if the agent considers that we put the traffic at risk we can immobilize the car. If our driver's license specifies that we must wear prescription glasses that correct our eyesight and surprise us driving without them, we will be committing a serious infraction. To find out, look in your permit for an inscription with the code 01. Not carrying them can cost us 200 Euros in fines. Since 2007, it is not mandatory to wear a spare glass with the same graduation as the current ones, but it is recommended.

For some years, it is mandatory to include in the vehicle envelope a reflective vest that must be worn when leaving the vehicle on interurban roads and triangles to signal a stop for any emergency. If we leave the car without wearing the vest, we can be fined 200 Euros. In the case of triangles, they must be placed at least 50 meters ahead and behind the vehicle (in the case of one-way roads, only behind); whether we do not put them on or if we put them wrong, the fine is 80 Euros.
